Mercury Prize nominee Sam Lee is all set for a nationwide UK tour in March 2013. He has been keeping himself busy of late having recently returned from the Womex Expo, music from which he has been featuring on The Nest Collective Hour (can be heard four days a week on Folk Radio UK), as well heading out on song collecting trips, one of which recently featured in The Guardian when Sam met with Gypsy singer Freda Black.
His performance of ‘The Ballad of George Collins’ has been in high demand and here is a recent performance from Sam Lee and friends which was recorded by Balcony TV.
For those of you that have an interest in Sam’s song collecting and his travels to the source of the communities who have carried the indigenous songs of the UK for generations then you may want to catch his lecture as St John’s College this evening:
Ethnomusicology Seminar, Thursday November 22nd 2012 (17:00-18:30), 20 St Giles, St John’s College, St. Giles, University of Oxford
