I got chatting to Catherine MacLellan recently after hearing that she was touring the UK with artist and poet Tanya Davis, I expected they had met whilst on the road but I was wrong, they used to neighbours when Catherine was 10 years old…a wonderful story:
When I first moved to Prince Edward Island, a tiny island on the East coast of Canada, I was 10 years old and Tanya Davis was my next door neighbour. We became fast friends and began writing silly sappy songs together on her mother’s piano. We’ve been dearest friends ever since and it’s sometimes astounding to think that those two bratty emotional kids are traveling around the world playing music together.
Tanya has come over to Britain from a few dates in Denmark to join us on this UK tour. Tanya is the poet laureate of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is well known for her poetry as well as her music. Her video-poem, How To Be Alone, went viral with over 6 million views.
This video will make you smile:
