English folk songstress Emily Portman has announced that she has been nominated for a BBC FOLK AWARD for BEST ORIGINAL SONG for ‘Hatchlings’, the title track from her latest album. `Hatchlings’ is inspired by the myth of Leda and her egg-hatched twins, which Emily first came across depicted on the frescos of Pompeii. Banjo and ringing bells accompany interweaving strings and harmonies from Rachel Newton, Lucy Farrell and Lucy Deakin. The winner will be announced at the BBC folk award ceremony on 30th January ’13.
In other exciting news Emily is touring throughout February and has been invited the fabulous Be Good Tanyas on their UK tour with a closing night at The Barbican, London on 3rd February ‘13.
