Today’s Simple Folk Radio show is presented by Dillon with Scott Power (Shhh! Promotions) and features a live recording of Singing Adams.
Once upon a time their was The Broken Family Band. Their five albums which spanned indie rock, alt-country, folk and good old fashioned pop music brought them a level of cult following I’ve rarely seen. People didn’t just love their music, it went way deeper that. Anyone familiar with their records and live shows would happily call them one of most underrated band in the UK.
Then they announced that they were splitting up.
I caught one of their very last shows and at times their wasn’t a dry eye in the house, the audience sang songs word for word in a way that I’ve never witnessed before.
Singing Adams is the latest venture from former Broken Family Band frontman/songwriter Steven Adams. He’s formed a four-piece crack squad of like-minded pop enthusiasts, their first album ‘Everybody Friends Now’ has been released to critical acclaim with quotes which tick all the right boxes.
“gracefully witty” (Mojo), “truly remarkable pop music” (NME) and The Guardian calling it his “best set of songs yet”
All is right with the world once more.
