We recently told you about Purbeck Folk Festival which is based on a little sheep farm on the beautiful Jurassic coast of Dorset (previous post here). This year’s festival takes place between 24-26 August 2012 and features some great acts including: Shooglenifty, KT Tunstall, The Destroyers, Larkin Poe, The Old Dance School and many many more!
Since that previous post we are now very pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Purbeck Folk Festival as a media sponsor. We love their whole approach to music and think this is going to be one hell of a festival! As already mentioned, the line up is great and we’re looking forward to being there. We’ll be adding some names of artists on the run up to the festival that we’re really looking forward to seeing, from the well known to the lesser known.
Phil King
Regular listeners will aready be familiar with the sound of Phil King whose last album They Come and They Go has featured regularly on Folk Radio UK.
Jack McNeill and Charlie Heys
A duo that are also regulars, we’ve become big fans of Jack and Charlie since the release of The Northern Road in 2010 and their latest release Two Fine Days just demonstrates how they have gone from strength to strength (read our review).
The Roving Crows
Boasting fiery fiddle playing, trumpet, guitar, drums, bass and vocals. Described as completely unique and uncontainable, an original Celtic vibe, also drawing influences from genres including jazz, ska, folk, kleizmer and blues.
Catherine Burke Band
Catherine Burke reminds me of a female version of Rory McLeod, and that’s a compliment by the way, she has a fast vocal delivery with equally witty lyrics to boot…personally, seeing as they’re both at the festival, I think they should do a duet. I like her style!
Owl in the Sun
Owl in the Sun are a 6-piece band who have been building a solid reputation since their début release ‘Outside the City Way of Things’. Combining contemporary folk, Americana and gypsy jazz to concoct an original sound that will please festival goers.
