Until this week I hadn’t heard of Norweigan singer/songwriter Mikhael Paskalev, that as all been corrected now thanks to James Canty who I recently interviewed (coming soon). Mikhael’s single ‘Jive Baby’ has been capturing the summer souls of many and has also been getting great press from the likes of The Guardian.
He takes his musical inspiration from the likes of Paul Simon, The shins, Edward Sharpe, the Mamas and the Papas and the Everly brothers. His tastes are as eclectic and broad as his performances which straddle the simple, accompanied by just a nylon-strung guitar, to the bombastic featuring a six-piece band with occasional brass. There is no doubt he has an ear for good sound and the creativity to make hooks that reel you in.
Now Jive Baby is the one they’re all talking about but check out ‘I Spy’ as well and the great videos for them both below…this has got to be big! We LOVE IT!
