The loss of Bert Jansch last year came as great shock to many. The passing of a folk legend has a way of creating ripples that leads to many people discovering their music for the first time. Bert’s name is frequently mentioned by many of the new folk artists that we meet on Folk Radio UK so this bit of news will delight many: the earliest known live recording of Bert Jansch was thanks to schoolby Frank Coia who recorded Bert performing blues and folk covers between 1962-64. They were finally released on a 30 track CD in 1998 but now, for the first time ever, will be released on vinyl.
Stamford Audio have created a new label for the release: Stamford Audio Heritage which will feature recordings of ‘historical significance’ on vinyl. Bert Jansch – Young Man Blues: Live in Glasgow will be limited to 1000 hand-numberd copies on 180g vinyl with NO re-pressing.
Folk Radio UK have secured a limited number of the releases which are available from our new independent store.
