Manchester based Samson & Delilah are in London this week to play at the prestigious Cecil Sharp House, home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) which was recently voted the second most popular music venue in London in a Time Out London readers poll. The British/Australian group are headlining the event as part of the ongoing ‘Folk Rising’ music series for EFDSS & The Nest Collective (in association with Songlines) on Thursday May 24th. Led by the songwriting partnership of husband and wife Sam Lench and Anna Zweck, Samson & Delilah are gaining a reputation for intimate, vibrant and virtuosic live shows mixing traditional songs with their own variously heartbreaking and vitriolic compositions.
As well as performing tracks from their 2 critically acclaimed albums (which have received airplay on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music), Sam will also be airing a new composition recently written alongside The Unthanks.
Also appearing on the night will be Louisa Jones and Whiskey Moon Face + Zuzzana Novak.
“Psych folk lives on. It’s a brave fusion with melodies as sturdy as great hymns and bold production work. This should be a band to watch.”
