The new Simple Folk Radio show will be broadcast today at 5:00pm and will feature sessions from Seamus Fogarty & Mother McKenzie.
SEAMUS FOGARTY / “I can’t quite describe his music … it’s an ethereal collage of banjo, acoustic guitar, violin, shakers all thrown into a washing machine and cut up with samples and weird noises. But much better than that description” – Johnny Lynch, Fence Records.
“Now signed up with the Fence Collective in Scotland, singer-songwriter Seamus Fogarty is a no-nonsense operator with a fine handle on strong, melodic, powerful folk, country and blues” – Jim Carroll, Irish Times
MOTHER McKENZIE / Member of America’s The Epiphysis Foundation (Viking Moses/Golden Ghost/Teenage Mysticism), Mother McKenzie’s haunting Mojave sound treads alongside lyrics that portray everyman pursuits with cinematic gravity. That’s thanks to Las Vegas-native Wyatt McKenzie, whose tender tenor guides the band’s increasingly diverse sound. These are soul tunes, music furrowing a groove as heavy as it is persistent. Wyatt’s aura caries reminiscences of rawly western landscapes — he walks with a cowboy-booted-gait, bears a whiskey-sharp attitude and plays tunes that sound like dust, range and sun.
