The Pond is a new project from Kathryn Williams who has teamed up with fellow musicians, Simon Edwards and Ginny Clee. This is not like anything Kathryn has done before which may surprise some. It has been described as more Gorillaz than Guthrie which is maybe going a bit too far. ‘Circle Round A Tree‘ is their first single to be released from the album on May 21st and this track is a lot more subtle than that description suggests. It has a great folk acoustic feel calling to mind the Bristol Sound with its trip-hop backbeat and loops that re-cycles throughout the track (more Morcheeba than Gorillaz). Their self-titled debut is released by One Little Indian on 28th May. Yes it may surpise some fans but we think it will please more.
