Track Dogs are a welcome new arrival on Folk Radio UK. They take their name from the maintenance teams working the subway tracks in New York City. Their name is apt in more ways than one: all four members are ex-pats and have lived in Madrid since 2007, being away from their homes of Ireland, England and Ohio has drawn them closer, a close knit unit which mirrors their style and creativity as a band. It has also given them a confidence in which to explore, experiment and develop. Their sound speaks for itself, it is in their uniqueness that their forte lies: drums are replaced by Cajón (flamenco box drum) and trumpet takes the place of electric guitar, add to this bass, acoustic guitar and four strong vocal talents and you have a warm and celebratory sound that would not go amiss at any festival.
As a band they are not new…having previously released two albums under their previous guise of Garrett Wall Band. Their debut as Track Dogs proves they have an exciting future ahead and they will develop their sound even further I am sure.
