We’ve been plugging a few Leonard Cohen cover tracks since the release of ‘Old Ideas‘ which we reviewed here. One of our favourites has been Bill Callahan‘s cover of a personal favourite of ours ‘So Long, Marianne‘.

In other Bill Callahan news Drag City are to release another cover, this time Bill Callahan will be covering the late Mickey Newbury who wrote may songs that went on to be covered by the likes Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, John Denver, B.B. King, Linda Ronstadt and many more. “Heaven Help The Child” which will be relased as a 7″ on March 27th. It will feature Mickey Newbury’s LP version as well as Bill Callahan’s cover.
It will be available in all good independent record stores.
