Mirel Wagner is a 23 year old singer/songwriter, born in Ethiopia and raised in Espoo, Finland. Since age 16 she’s been writing minimalistic Blues and Folk songs that she sings in her husky voice accompanied on guitar. Whilst there is an over-riding sense of gloom her songs and voice have a beauty that shines in the same way that Sibylle Baier did or Lead Belly when singing ‘In the Pines’.
Mirel’s self titled debut has just nine songs but the simplicity of her sound makes her a tantalising artist. A follow-up to this releases will surely hold some new revelations and qualities, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
