In 2011 M.N Hopwood wrote his debut album ‘And to this Last’ (due for release in September 2012) capturing moments of beauty on recordings made in an old saxon church, situated in the foothills of the Sussex Downs. The church was used as an instrument and the space encompassed the songs giving them life and vibrance, incorporating the sounds of the place, the landscape and the people who came and went.
M.N Hopwood is currently touring his music through the counties of England with his musical and community project ‘An English Love Story’. Travelling by foot along the ridgeways and footpaths of England, carrying everything he needs, staying in the open, in churches or with people kind enough to put him up in their homes. “In the style of the Troubadour I am journeying through rural England, sharing my music, my love story, and hearing other people’s love stories along the way. It is a journey of exploration, sharing and communication. On these journeys I perform music from ‘And to this Last’, discussing the importance of love stories and gathering a collection of love stories and personal testaments: An English Love Story from the rural communities of England in 2012.”
