The Neil Cowley Trio debut their second video from their new recording, The Face of Mount Molehill (read our review here). Described by Uncut as a “pulsating Bond theme”, ‘Fable’ bounds along with manic energy. The quirky video was shot on location in Hackney and Neil’s back garden – a field deep in the surrey countryside – and directed by Jane Gerber, who’s First Love series for Sky Arts (shortlisted for a Royal Television Society Award) featured a moving appearance by Neil assuring comedienne Sue Perkins that the piano “can love you back”.
Released last month to enormous critical acclaim, Cowley + co’s new recording demonstrates it’s not only a silent movie that can remind us you don’t need words to express imagination and emotion, to be joyful, funny and tender.
Not only has Neil been working hard on his Neil Cowley Trio band but he is probably one of the most listened to pianists in 2011 with his recent work with Adele on 21 and more recently with Emeli Sande and Michael Kiwanuka.
The Neil Cowley Trio will be heading out on a nationwide UK tour next month with the Mount Molehill Strings. Full tour dates below:
