Tonight at Cafe OTO in London you can hear the fabulous French band Le Volume Courbe (French for ‘The Volume Curve’). The band is helmed by Charlotte Marionneau inspired by the do-your-own-thing ethos of Nico, Patti Smith and Yoko Ono. After moving from France to London Charlotte Marionneau began composing and making tracks, receiving vital encouragement from musicians like Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and David Roback, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields and Colm O’Ciosoig, all of whom contributed to her record ‘I Killed My Best Friend’. Most of which was recorded at home – a lo-fi punk record in attitude rather than in musical style. “A strange, otherworldly concoction of sounds filled with fragile vocals and haphazard guitars, flowing like an enchanting and elusive diary of dreams.” (Forced Exposure)
They are joined by the French band Lonesome French Cowboy and the One and Harvey Smith Salute
