For a special one-off show on 8th December at Barbican Hall, the folk-inflected band The Leisure Society are to collaborate with the maverick, 30-strong Heritage Orchestra and their conductor Jules Buckley to perform songs from Into The Murky Water and from their acclaimed debut The Sleeper in all their richly-textured glory.
The Leisure Society’s second, triumphant album Into The Murky Water was released in Summer 2011. It is fuelled by a pointed, bittersweet kind of melancholy, the sort of feeling understood only by people who, after years of standing on the sidelines, have started to see their dreams come true – people like Nick Hemming and Christian Hardy, the creative duo at the heart of the band.
The songwriting brought their debut two Ivor Novello nominations. This time, The Leisure Society is accompanied by widescreen instrumental arrangements.
