Liz Green recently visited Rough Trade West to promote her debut Album ‘O, Devotion!’ which was produced by liam watson (best known for his work engineering and mixing the White Stripes’ Elephant). The album has been receiving rave reviews and rightly so. Her songs are incredibly homespun and lyrical, along with a unique singing style she is guaranteed to lift any heart and make you smile!
Her delicate songs are a perfect knot of grassroots jazz, muddy blues and homespun folk, and recall the kiss of a needle on a brittle 78… you sense that once the world gets wind of her elegant, spooky songs there will be nowhere for Green to hide. The Observer
She recently recalled her best gig introduction that couldn’t sum her up better:
Liz’s heart is a moon Her arms are batteries Her brain is an old musical Never released, lost in a fire, Remembered at dinner by the stars who sung it. Her fingers are the fire Muttering behind the grate Her feet are ghosts Her shoes are haunted Her legs are home Her mouth is a tome Her teeth believe Her face is a prow Her songs are now
