The 4CD box set Band For All Seasons comprises all four of Larkin Poe’s acclaimed series of seasonally-titled mini-albums – Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Originally released individually in 2010 and earlier this year, the box set includes all four titles in their original digipack editions inside a slipcase box with an 8-panel foldout lyric booklet and is being released to coincide with their second UK Tour this year.
“…already gifted as instrumentalists and, having a head start on the rest of us with the unique power and beauty of sibling harmony in their vocal blend, their songwriting has leapt forward and now surprises and delights in equal measure.” Elvis Costello
Rebecca and Megan Lovell pin their musical inspirations to a family history of storytelling from children’s books and bedtime yarns to figments and fairytales. Their musical journey began with the playing of classical violin and piano at the ages of 5 and 6, it continued through their teenage years as they toured internationally from 2005 to 2010 as part of a group called The Lovell Sisters. This incarnation, which included their eldest sister, Jessica, took the group from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, to summer festivals such as Bonnaroo and Telluride, and even gave them the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of Elvis Costello, Brandi Carlile, and the Indigo Girls. But all things come to an end in time, and in January 2010, after saying a fond ‘farewell’ to The Lovell Sisters, the musical story of Rebecca and Megan’s young adulthood began in the form of a new band: Larkin Poe.
In preparation for an upcoming tour opening for the legendary Elvis Costello throughout Europe in fall of 2011, Larkin Poe started work on a new project in late summer 2011 – with plans to release the project in early 2012. They will also be returning to the UK on 27th January 2012 to play Celtic Connections 2012.
