Symphonic pop band The Leisure Society have revealed a new video for ‘Dust On The Dancefloor’, their latest single which is out this week on Full Time Hobby.
Over to band leader Nick Hemming to explain some of the inspirations behind the promo:
“I bought a Super 8 camera a couple of years ago, I guess as some kind of nostalgic rebellion against the digital world that we live in. The colouring and pace of old film can be very beautiful and there’s something quite thrilling about getting a developed film reel back from the lab, not knowing exactly what it contains. ‘Dust On The Dancefloor’ is basically the reminiscences of an old man reflecting on a life of romantic conquests and failures, so we thought the 8mm footage would be a great illustration of the way the days run away from us.
“We met director Joseph Brett at the End Of The Road Festival and, to our surprise, he agreed to make a film for us. We did as Joseph said – without completely understanding the concept – and a couple of weeks later he came back with this wonderful video. We weren’t sure how he was going to incorporate our amateurish home movie footage, but somehow he’s managed to make it work!”
