Ellen and the Escapades are an up and coming Leeds based quintet whose indie folk music managed to win them Q Magazine/Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition in 2010. Growing attention has seen them filling slots at Larmer Tree and Summer Sundae as well as joining Paolo Nutini and Stornoway at the Pilton Party in September.
They are hotting up with some tour dates across the UK in support of their new single When The Tide Creeps In which you can listen to below. The EP offers a great contrast from the upbeat, folk-rock tinged When The Tide Creeps In, on which Ellen Smith’s vocals really shine to the slower accoustic paced Always in my Heart which calls to mind the gentle pace and style of Simon and Garfunkle. If this is a musical benchmark of what to expect on their new album which they are currently working on then this could be their year.
