Catherine MacLellan is about to embark on a UK tour in support of her latest album Silhouette. As on previous releases she sounds as graceful and effortless in delivery of her songs which offer a striking combination of melody and intimacy.
Seeking seclusion in which to write and create and album is becoming an increasingly publicised aspect of album production and although Silhouette was recorded largly in a secluded cabin on rural Prince Edward Island, at least she wasn’t diving into personal solitude. Instead, Catherine MacLellan was joined by a band of longtime friends and musical collaborators with producer David Baxter to craft the 14 track album that Canada’s Exclaim magazine has touted as being “a near-hour-long album devoid of filler…a testimony to MacLellan’s ascent to greatness.”
Her respect by the music press has been helped by her subtle understated nature. It’s hard not to like her voice or her inner most ponderings which are reflected in her songs. Wihout trying to play down her stature there is something very charming and ordinary which people maybe find easier to relate to. Ironically, her understated charm makes her standout all the more. Try and catch her on tour!
