Following her Mercury prize triumph, PJ Harvey talked to Guardian music editor Caspar Llewellyn Smith about her prize-winning album Let England Shake, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as her favourite films and more. She makes some interesting remarks about producing the album and the difficulty she faced in trying to keep it on a certain level of ambiguity, to be ambivalent and to not be clearly in one position or another, just storytelling. For this reason she used a human emotional angle rather than a political one.
