In 2009 King Charles released an EP to critical acclaim and as he began writing the album he had an almost fatal accident which put a halt to him finishing for another 6 months. As soon as he could he went back on the road, supporting Mumford & Sons in America early 2010. King Charles then became the first and only British artist to win the prestigious International Songwriting Contest in Nashville and was signed on the spot by Universal Republic in America.
He finished writing and recording his debut album mostly in his bedroom late 2010, and put the final touches to it in Los Angeles. The album draws down influences from Afro-beat, rock and roll, glam, folk, hip-hop and country and the heart of each song is lit up by joyous pop and the edges that are coloured in by wild and wonderful ideas, they are songs with spirit in their belly.
To celebrate finishing his debut album, King Charles will be giving away a free track from the album and organising a free gig.
The free gig will be held at the Shacklewell Arms on Monday 3rd October and entry is open to anyone who has already bought a ticket for the UK tour (dates below). To get into the show email your names along with your tour-ticket reference numbers to this email address: kingcharlesfreeshow@gmail.com and the first hundred people to enter will win a place on the guest list for this one off intimate show. The successful fans will also receive a collectable ‘Ivory Road’ 7″.
