Fink is due to relase a new single on June 13th titled Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us, the track which was partly inspired a by a trip to the Spanish city of Toledo and tackles life’s frequent emotional crossroad decisions. It is from his forthcoming album Perfect Darkness from which we also have a free download below.
Finian Greenhall signed to Ninja Tunes at the height of the Bristol trip-hop scene during the mid-90s. The label’s expectations on the signing were driven by his jazz infused electronic music. After a few years his personal music goals took a turn in direction swapping turntables for guitar. It’s fair to say that Fink has a well established trademark sound that empasises his bluesy vocals against resonating bass notes. If you’ve never heard him then think Jose Gonzalez only judging by the tracks I’ve heard so far this is no Junip but there is an undercurrent of change, check out the opening track below. Percussion and electronica is more prevalent but still fulfilling and familar ground.
Fink’s new album ‘Perfect Darkness’ is also released on June 13th on Ninja Tunes. This is the title track:
Don’t miss his appearance at Communion’s Bushstock Festival on June 4th.
