You all know how much I love Pepe Belmonte’s debut album Hermit’s Waltz which I made album of the week near the end of last month and we’ve been playing since. I just received news that he was involved in a bad bike accident last week and I’m asking you all to send your prayers and good vibes his way:
Message from Jenny (Pepe’s girlfriend):
Pepe was in a bad bike accident in London last Thursday and has been in intensive care since. He was hit by a police van on a humpback bridge in Haggerston. He’s going to be ok, and is incredibly lucky to have made it. He’s due his operation today, as he’s broken two vertebrae in his back, so they need to operate to fix them in place so they can fuse together. He’s been in an induced coma to keep him still since the accident happened, but his brain and body are working as normal it seems. He’s said a few words as they’ve brought him around a little bit to check his reflexes and to ask him to wiggle his toes etc (all of which he did!).
So he will be alright, and he will be back to the way he was, but it may be some time. He’s incredibly excited about his imminent album release, and was due to go on tour of independent record stores. All of that will need to be postponed for now.
He’s having his operation today…It was wonderful for him to read your words, it really did him the world of good, and it gave him something to fight for, I’m sure of that.
Please send those vibes and prayers now people! And please consider leaving messages of support on his Facebook page here.
