Mount Moriah are going to go down a storm! They are Heather McEntire and Jenks Millerdue a duo from North Carolina who found a kindred interest in classic American folk back in 2005 when they first met. Their post punk / metal backgrounds have given them a great ear to re-interpret roots music through. Their self-titled debut album due out on 12th April (on import in the UK) is literally ground-breaking!
Their music ranges from the slow and gentle acoustic to darker depths reminiscent of Julie Doiron and Cat power. There is no doubt it is far-reaching and out there…and it is so goddamn beautiful, helped, in my case, by Heather McEntire’s great voice! The videos to the following tracks are testament to a mighty new duo!
Mount Moriah features guest instrumentation by members of St. Vincent, Megafaun, Bowerbirds and other fellow North Carolina-based musicians.

All I can say is we need a UK label to sign them and get’em over here!
