Pearl and the Beard, those feel good spectacled folkies and apple in the eye of Family Records are appearing at SXSW this year and launching their new album Killing the Darlings in April with a launch party at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. Well the good folks have also released a free EP.
At Home With Pearl And The Beard is their first EP to be re-relased by Family Records. It was these recordings that brought the band to the attention of the label. Locked in the tower of Rainbow Horse Studios somewhere out in the faraway reaches of New Jersey, the group used naught but the internal mic on their collective laptop to record their debut release. Stairs, benches, washing machines, and house keys were among some of the unique percussive instruments used to create the EP’s earthy, organic sound. Each original copy was hand printed, hand pressed, and hand distributed for your enjoyment.
