Jackie Oates was pleased to announce that she has been appointed as an Associate Artist of the English Folk and Dance Society (EFDSS). In typical Jackie fashion she was very humble in her announcement. She certainly deserves this recognition.
Jackie Oates has had a busy year, she performed at South-By-South-West in March 2010. She also played at some of the high profile folk festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Sidmouth FolkWeek, The Big Session, Towersey Festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival and more. Then in autumn 2010 she toured as support with Show Of Hands.
It doesn’t stop there, Jackie also received three nominations for Folk Singer of The Year, Album of the Year and Best Traditional Track for ‘Isle Of France’ in the 2010 BBC Folk Awards.
She has plenty up her sleeve for 2011 when she will tour as part of The Imagined Village line up as well as in her own right. Her next album is scheduled for September 2011.
In the meantime, make sure you listen to Somin Emmerson’s mix which features Jackie: Listen here.
