This press release just rolled in: Americana-folk warriors MEGAFAUN, have been chosen to curate, perform, and record songs/interpretations of Alan Lomax’s classic recordings “Songs of the South” at Duke University this September.
Invited guests feature Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten and jazz big band Fight the Big Bull.
Megafaun are currently supporting their new mini album HERETOFORE by wrapping up their European Tour with three dates in the Netherlands and two in England.
Hold your horses! First of all Megafaun’s “Heretofore” is to be released at the end of September. The 34 minutes mini album was written within one week in a creative vein between two extensive North American and their current European Tour. Continuing along the untravelled path between tradition and sonic exploration started upon with Gather, Form & Fly, Heretofore finds Megafaun pairing five of its most concise, communicative songs to date, notably the jangly pop rollick “Carolina Days” and gorgeous country drifter “Volunteers”.
More details are posted here on Pitchfork.
