Whilst on her European travels, Lancashire lass, Nancy Elizabeth, recorded an interview in Portugal on which she gives some honest and open insights into her work. Her last album, Wrought Iron saw her move away from harp, which was so prominent in her debut Battle and Victory, to piano. She openly admits that she dislikes doing the same thing twice and instead prefers to challenge herself so who knows what to expect on the forthcoming album. Maybe percussion and a more stripped down approach? She does perform to just her own percussion, as she shows on this video.
Nancy has also forged her repuutation through a number of collaborations. She recorded with James Yorkston on his last album When The Haar Rolls In, and with The Big Eye Family Players on their last album. She also collaborated with Japanese artist Susumu Yokota in early 2009 on his album Mother, and contributed a unique take on ‘Cornfield’ to the Lal Waterson tribute album Migrating Bird..
