It’s always good to hear from artists that are well loved by listeners and Karine Polwart is certainly one of them. She’s been a little bit quiet for a while on news and this newsletter brings us all up to scratch:
Hello folks,
Just a quick hello to say I’ll be playing my last solo show til 2011 on Thursday March 11th at The Roxy Arthouse in Edinburgh. I’ll be there for a full 50 minute set with my regular trio buddies Inge Thomson and Stevie Polwart in a final bow before my imminent maternity leave (which I hope goes some way to explaining my silence over the past wee while – a longer newsletter recapping on a very hectic past few months and what’s to come this year will follow this one).
The 11th March show features also Karen Dietz and Richard Klein, as well as the splendid young Scots singer/guitarist Ewan Mclennan (definitely my favourite newly “found” singer of the moment). You can see and hear Ewan live from the Scottish Songbook show I co-directed last month in Glasgow over at http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/music/celticconnections/2010/artists/ewan_mclennan/
Bespoke Organic Events are hosting the gig on behalf of Edinburgh and Midothian Green Party. The venue opens at 6pm with food and an organic bar (it’s all very good!) and stalls. Music kicks off at 8 o’clock. I’ll be on between 9 and 10pm. Tickets are £12.00 and £8.00 from http://www.thebooth.co.uk
I hope to see some of you there.
A wee heads up too on a new 5 track EP collaboration I’ve just completed with the lovely lads of Lau, winners of Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards this year for the third time, and variously my neighbours and pals. More info on that next time, as well as a new website to see me through the baby days!
Anyway, I hope you’re all well. Thanks for your support.
Karine
so there you have it…and that 5 track EP with Karine Polwart and LAU! Sounds great.
